GospelLight started at the Tourist Information Centre in about 2019, until we were respectfully asked to move on and find another place. Then, we met at the local skate park at each Friday night and eventually it was causing more trouble for shop owners nearby with large numbers of kids congregating.

Now, we head out on a Thursday evening after Fellowship Night and drive around serving up a meal, handing out drinks and other resources we have to distribute.

We aim to have gospel-centred conversations, encouraging the kids to consider consequences of actions, and challenging them to think about where Jesus fits into their lives and other topics they wish to discuss.

Building relationships built on trust and respect with boundaries is important, because they might be in trouble in a few months or years and need to call on the help of an adult that they can trust, so this work each week is foundational in developing these relationships and also helping to identify any immediate needs they might have.

Many of the kids have previously verbalised that the streets are far better than being at home. Think on that for a moment.
