What Can I expect during theGAP?

theGAP aims to support disciples of Jesus to explore and grow in the implementation of gospel values that are foundational to a life of Christian mission and service.

Weekly Group Learning Time

This is the time where we learn and grow together from reflections of share experiences, God’s Word, and other wonderful resources from around the globe. The study time comprises two main parts

  • Gospel Value Study. Each term we study 2 of the 8 identified foundational gospel values. We consider how these values are reflected in God’s character, demonstrated in God’s Word (in good and not-so-good ways, and how God desires us to see these values implemented in our own lives of ministry and mission.
  • Scripture Study. Each module we read through a book from scripture and look closely at how the gospel value we are currently studying is reflected and demonstrated in what we are reading.

Weekly Guided-Reflection Journal

The journal supports theGAP interns in the valuable process of reflection, and prompts them to carefully consider the study material, discussed practical implications and current ministry experiences, and helps them consider the effect these studies have on the student’s daily walk of faith. It is a valuable form of debrief, and is also a great record to take with them when they finish the year-long programme, reminding them of the journey of growth and many life lessons they have learnt along the way!

MCM Community Fellowship Night

This is a valuable and important night for our team. It’s when our MCM Ministry Community, comes together, learns about Christian community, worships together and prays together for the various ministries going on between us all. – And we usually eat together, because food and fellowship together is good!

Individualised Ministry Involvement Plan

Everyone is created uniquely, with different gifts and interests to contribute to the body of Christ. We work with the intern to help identify the ministries that they will commit to each term. We discuss what commitment looks like and requires.

Community Living / Accommodation Provision

Living together with people other than your own family is a unique and very sanctifying experience! Our ministry centre in Moree has rooms available for interns to stay in. Most of the time you will have your own room, occasionally you will need to share. We do our best to eat as many evening meals together as possible, as much as we are in separate homes, we aim to live together, in Christian community as much as possible.

106 Amaroo is where Paul & Erin Strahan and their family live. There are 2 additional rooms here for female interns (max 2).

108 Amaroo is next door. We are not 100% sure who will be in this house in 2025, but there are rooms here for atleast 2 male interns.

Costs: Board is $250 per week per person.
This includes accommodation in a fully-furnished home, internet, most evening meals, power and water. We also provide all interns with a swag and sleeping bag that they can take with them. These will come in very handy when we travel for ministry purposes throughout your time with us.

All boarders are required to read, agree to and sign an Accommodation Agreement & Code of Conduct prior to their arrival. All boarders are also required to have a NSW Working with Children Check in order to stay in either of the homes.

What happens after the programme?

A number of interns have decided to stay involved in the Ministry work with MCM for a few months, even a few years extra. Some have decided to continue on attending theGAP study time for a term or 2. As you come to the end of the 12 months we can discuss and pray together about where you feel God is leading you. We are really flexible, and encourage you to keep open communication with us throughout your decision making process.
