We are on a camping convention circuit at the moment – full of fellowship, teaching and late nights!
The kids haven’t been going too bad, but yesterday Seth was overcome with tiredness and it wasn’t even 8am! So during the morning meeting I told him that he was so tired he needed to rest his body and have a sleep – you can just imagine the argument that followed …. “I’m not tired … **yawn** But Mum I don’t need a sleep, I don’t want to sleep” 20mins later he was snoring.
As he was sleeping in my lap I stared at him – he was so peaceful!
We also happened to be singing the verse in the hymn, “This is my Story”
Perfect submission, all is at rest
I in my Savior am happy and blessed
Watching and waiting, looking above
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love
As I continued to stare at him and think of the contrast between when he was arguing and now him resting, God pointed out to my heart that this is what we / I do sometimes – we wrestle and argue with God, pointing out what we think we do and don’t need, when all He asks is for us to submit and trust Him, because when we do we find rest and peace.
Love in Him,
Erin
Such a beautiful illustration. I can see the peace and rest in my mind’s eye. Oh to submit to the One who knows us so much better than we know ourselves! This is a perfect prayer point for me today. ❤️
